Cranberry sauce is one of the most delicious parts of Christmas lunch for me. Usually shop bought jars of cranberry sauce are full of sugar or fructose-glucose syrup, both of which a huge number of health-conscious people are trying to avoid.
If you or a child or yours does not tolerate sugar or complex starches or if you are on a Paleo Diet or SCD Diet then this is a yummy option for you. The orange flavour gives it some natural sweetness and makes this sauce have a more interesting taste than plain cranberry. We love this SCD cranberry sauce all year round, as well as with the traditional turkey at Christmas time, and often serve it with venison or other game.
Cranberry is known for its health benefits in supporting healthy kidney function. The proanthocyanidins in the cranberries may be used to prevent infections of the urinary tract. Cranberries are also a good source of fibre, vitamin C and E.
